Kenel Barrett

TW Andrews High School

The son of Greg Barrett and Janella Bush, Kenel was a football team captain, playing wide receiver and defensive back. He was also a member of the school’s basketball team. Other activities include leadership camp and being a member of the school club, Men of Andrews. Coached by Mitchell Jenkins, Kenel plans to attend Guilford College and hopes for a career in child development or sports training.

Michael Becker, III

Northern Guilford High School

The son of Michael and Tracey Becker, Michael was a pre-season all-area selection, earned academic all-conference honors, and was the team special teams MVP. He was a member of several school clubs including National Honor Society, Young Life, and a Nighthawk Ambassador. His community service includes time with Camp Tekoa assisting the elderly, tornado clean up, and volunteering with youth football camps. Coached by Erik Westberg, Michael plans to attend North Carolina State University and plans to pursue a career in engineering or textiles.

Clay Davis

Graham High School

The son of Todd and Tricia Davis, Clay was a captain of the football team and earned honorable mention all-conference. He also played baseball and basketball. He was active in the school’s Peer Group Connections as well as the Boy Scouts. Coached by Derek Bryant, Clay plans to attend Durham Tech and hopes to be an electrical lineman.

Tyler Dishner

Western Alamance High School

The son of Mark and Robin Dishner, Tyler was a team captain and earned academic all-conference honors. He was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Warrior Buddies. He also owns and operates his own business making wood furniture and other products. Coached by Jeff Snuffer, Tyler plans to attend Guilford College, Averett University or Ferrum College and is considering a career in medical sales or as a business owner.

Mekhi Fenner

The son of Willie and Jarinda Fenner, Mekhi was a football team captain and was recognized as the Bojangles Scholar Athlete of the Year. Other school activities include National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Senior Class President, Black Achievers, and FBLA. He also had almost 100 hours of community service. Coached by Antwon Stevenson, Mekhi plans to attend Fayetteville State, East Carolina, or NC A&T State. He plans to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon, real estate agent or fitness trainer.

Jalen Ferguson

The son of Lawrence and Selena Ferguson, Jalen was a team captain, selected to the Super 25 All-County First Team and the Game of Inches Triad Player of the Week. He is a member of the High Achievers and Young Scholars. He has also been active as a volunteer with the YMCA. Coached by Adrian Snow, Jalen plans to attend Lenoir Rhyne University and is considering a career in sports medicine.

Anthony Hairston

Northeast Guilford High School

The son of Anthony Hairston and Karin Lee, Anthony was a team captain, team MVP, Mid-State all-conference selection and conference defensive player of the year. Coached by Earl Bates, Anthony plans to attend NC A&T State University and is considering a career in mechanical engineering, agricultural production or kinesiology.

Jamauree Haith

The son of Richard Haith and Jennifer Valines was a team captain, two-time all-conference selection, and all-region. He was an A-B honor roll student and a member of the Williams High Dream Team. Service activities included volunteering at New Life at Hocutt Baptist Church, FCA, YMCA, and Young Life. Coached by Jim McGill, Jamauree plans to attend Western Carolina, North Carolina A&T State, or Mars Hill and is considering a career in computer science, geomatics, or communications.

Hunter Harrelson

Southern Alamance High School

The son of Todd and Michelle Harrelson, Hunter was a team captain, all-conference selection, first-team all-region and earned academic all-conference honors. He was selected for the National Technical Honor Society, active in the FFA, and almost 100 hours of community service. Coached by Fritz Hessenthaler, Hunter plans to attend Easter Carolina University and would like a career in coaching.

Gabriel Hollingsworth

The son of John and Holly Hollingsworth, Gabriel was the starting quarterback, a three-year team captain, all-conference selection, all-county, team MVP and Forsyth County Offensive Player of the Year. He was selected for the National Honor Society, Latin Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars. He has been active in other areas of school life, including the Latin Club, Reagan Ambassador, and the Reagan High School Spirit Club. He has been active in the community, volunteering with Bethabra Clothes Pantry and the Back Pack Food Pantry. Coached by Josh McGee, Gabriel plans to attend Columbia University and is considering a career in broadcasting or as a strength and conditioning coach.

Greg Hunter

R.J. Reynolds High School

The son of Greg and Ginny Hunter, Greg was a team captain, two-way starter and received the Student Athlete Award. Honors include selection to the National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, an AP Scholar with Distinction and a Junior Marshal. He earned the level of Eagle Scout and has been active volunteering in other areas. Coached by Pat Crowley, Greg plans to attend MIT or NC State University and is considering a career as a chemical engineer, mechanical engineer or in business management.

Carrington Jarrett

North Forsyth High School

The son of Tarreyton Carson and Tameka Henry, Carrington was recipient of the team’s 2019 Outstanding Lineman Award. He was selected for the National Honor Society, participated in FBLA and was a member of Black Achievers. Coached by Jay Blair, Carrington plans to attend Guilford College and hopes for a career as a graphic designer, gaming/content creator, or in accounting.

Walter Kuhlenkamp

The son of Edward and Christine Kuhlenkamp, Walter earned the 2019 coaches award for Southeast football. Other school activities included the Men of Destiny, German Club, swimming, and track. He was also selected as a Southeast High student of the month and all-state chorus. Through the Men of Destiny he was involved in mentoring. Coached by Kennedy Tinsley, Walter plans to attend Claremont Mudd Scripps in California.

Chris Lyle

The son of Scott and Molly Lyle, Chris was a team captain, all-conference selection and honorable mention all-area. He was a member of the student council and the Tri-M Honor Society. Chris also served as president of the FCA and was a member of Brooks Buddies. His community service included work with the Out of the Garden Project and youth group mission trips to stop hunger. Coached by Darryl Brown, Chris plans to attend Appalachian State University and is considering a future in outdoor recreation or media broadcasting.

Juwan Lyons

The son of Jamica Lyons, Juwan was a team captain and earned all-conference honors as a wide receiver. He is an honor roll student and spent time volunteering in the guidance office. Coached by De’ron Middleton, Juwan plans to attend Livingstone College.

He was active in the FCA, leadership team and volunteered with the Mebane Youth Football Camp to provide coaching assistance. Coached by John Kirby, Colby plans to attend UNC Charlotte and is considering a career in physical therapy, sports medicine, or business.

Javon McCain

The son of Tiffany McCain, Javon was a team captain, all-conference, and won the Iron Man award. Very active in other areas of school life, he was a member of many clubs, including Service Learning Club, Beta Club, FCA, Key Club, and DECA club. He was also involved in a variety of service activities. Coached by Brian Terwilliger, Javon plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill, NC State University, or Elon University where he plans to pursue a career in business administration, construction engineering, or architectural engineering.

The son of Keith Misenheimer and Teresa Pendelton, Wesley was a team captain and an honor roll student. He was a member of the FCA and Campus Life. His community service included time with the local fire department, environmental clean-up and Haynes-Inman Education Center. Coached by Johnny Boykin, Wesley plans to attend NC A&T State University or UNC Charlotte and is considering a future in engineering and political science.

He was a Junior Marshal, active in the FCA, and was involved in several community service activities, including time at Ronald McDonald House. Coached by Rodney McKoy, Zachary plans to attend East Carolina University and is considering a career in construction management.

The son of Ricky and Susan Mobley, D’Jay was selected for all-conference, all region and special teams MVP. He was a member of the Beta Club and volunteered at Cone Elementary School. Coached by Tony Aguilar, D’Jay plans to attend Alabama A&M, Virginia Tech or NC A&T State University. He is considering a career in engineering, baseball, or football.

He was selected for several academic honors, including National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and National Honor Society of Black Engineers. He was a member of the Service Learning club, College Ambassadors, Dudley Fellows, and was vice-president of the Student Government Association. His community service included time with the New Zion Outreach, Kappa Beautillion, the McKnight Mentor program, the Transportation Institute, and the July 4th Festival. Coached by Steven Davis, Kenan plans to attend UNC-Charlotte. He is considering a career as a wealth advisor, accountant, or market research analyst.

He participated in other sports, was active in band, and a member of the Culinary Arts Club. His community service activities include volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank, Trellis Supportive Care, and Bethesda Center for the Homeless. Coached by David Hamlin, Barry plans to attend NC Central University, UNC-Pembroke, or NC A&T State University. Career choices include information technology business analyst, systems analyst, and database administrator.

He was selected for the National Honor Society, Social Studies National Honor Society, and was a Junior Marshal. He was a member of the Photography Club and participated in several other sports at Page. His service activities included mentoring youth through Team Voyage and feeding the homeless. Coached by Jared Rolfes, Jerome plans to attend Duke, Davidson, or UNC-Chapel Hill. He is considering a career as a pediatrician, sports orthopedic surgeon, or history teacher.

He was on the A-B honor roll throughout high school and selected for the National Honor Society. He also participated in the NAF Academy. His service activities included work with Sky’s the Limit and Hanes Hosiery. Coached by Tiesuan Brown, Lee plans to attend St. Augustine and career choices include physical therapist or a business owner.

Service activities included feeding the homeless and assisting with special needs elementary school students. Coached by Derrick Jones, Joshua plans to attend Presbyterian College and hope to pursue a career in cyber security or business.

Benjamin Stoneking

The son of Bradley and Katharine Stoneking, Benjamin was a two-year varsity letterman. He was selected for the National Honor Society, Beta Club and an AP Scholar. He also achieved the level of Eagle Scout. Community service activities included Quaker Lake Camp, High Point Friends, and Breakfast Buddies. Coached by Wayne Jones, Benjamin plans to attend Appalachian State or North Carolina State and is hoping for a career in the FBI/criminal justice.

Coached by Charlie Jones, Raines plans to attend Appalachian State or North Carolina State and is considering a career in business, psychology, or journalism.

He was an honor roll student and volunteered serving food with Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Coached by Todd Willert, Elijah plans to attend Fayetteville State, NC Central, or Barton College. He hopes to have a career in physical therapy or nutrition.

Stephen Vega

He was co-founder of the school club Vikings for Greensboro, organized supplies at the GCS teacher warehouse, and sorted food at a local food bank. Coached by Kevin Wallace, Stephen plans to attend Penn State, Appalachian State, or NC State University. His career options include biomedical engineering, physical therapy, and chemical engineering.

Darius Williams
