Corrigan/Faircloth Chapter of the National Football Foundation Honors 34 Scholarship Recipients
The Eugene Corrigan/ Bradley Faircloth Chapter of the National Football Foundation, celebrating its 33rd year, honored 34 Triad area football high school scholar athletes at its Monday, April 29, 2024 banquet at The Summit Church in Kernersville. Kevin Connolly of Fox 8 TV Sports served as the Master of Ceremonies. A panel of 3 area high school players who have gone on to play in college, were interviewed by Kevin Connolly.
Each scholar-athlete was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to use toward the tuition at the college of their choice.
The top award winner – Wesley Smith of Southern Alamance High in Graham received a $1,500 scholarship in memory of Bradley Faircloth, former Associate Commissioner and Supervisor of Football Officials of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The other top award, given in memory of Rich Brenner, the former Sports Anchor with Fox 8 TV is presented to honor school and community service. This year’s award, and $1,250 scholarship, went to Brandon Clapp of Eastern Guilford High School.
The scholarship recipients were chosen from the high schools in Alamance, Forsyth and Guilford counties for their excellence in the classroom, the community and on the football field. During its 33 years of existence, the Corrigan/Faircloth Chapter has raised and distributed $866,000 to 852 worthy high school student-athletes.
